Are you aware of the enormous amount of data that Moodle captures? Have you ever wanted to “see” what’s going on? “A picture is worth a thousand words.” Unfortunately, most database systems have weak data visualization tools, so “course analytics” is relegated to interpreting textual reports. Tableau is a company that provides a powerful “data visualization” product (called Tableau) that can connect to databases, perform queries, and help people “see” and understand data. Think stunning and interactive graphs! This presentation demonstrates how one can use Tableau, connect it to Moodle’s MySQL database, and produce some interesting visualizations.
